This 6 days Uganda safari is a combined chimpanzee and wildlife of Uganda while visiting Kibale Forest national park and Queen Elizabeth national park.

Kibale Forest national park is a home to the largest population of chimpanzees in East Africa and other 12 species of primates including olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, and mangabeys among others. In Queen Elizabeth national park you will enjoy sights of 4 of the Big 5 (lions, leopards, cape buffaloes and elephants) during game drive in the savannah plains and boat cruise on Kazinga Channel which connect Lake George to Lake Edward.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival to Uganda – Pearl of Africa

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be picked up by our representative (safari driver guide) and transfer to your hotel in Kampala, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, you will be picked up by your guide and start on your journey to Kibale Forest national park in Western Uganda for the ultimate chimpanzee trekking experience, Kibale Forest is known as the primate capital of the world because of its high concentration of primates.

Along the way you will enjoy the countryside with roadside markets and plantations, you will have lunch in Fort Portal Town – the tourism capital of Uganda and proceed to the park arriving in afternoon. Check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest

After breakfast, you will meet your guide and transfer you to the starting point (park’s headquarters) for briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during chimpanzee trekking, after the briefing by the ranger, you will be divided into groups and each be given a ranger guide to take you through the forest in search for chimpanzees in the forests of Kibale. The trekking takes approximately 2-5 hours depending on the movement of the chimpanzees and where they spent their previous night, when you meet them you will enjoy watching them swing from the branches in the canopy high, feed and play.

You will return to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will go for a walk in the Bigodi Community for an interaction with the locals, get a coffee experience, banana beer making experience, basketry and visit the local medicine man, listen to how different plants cure different diseases.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you will meet your driver guide, checkout of the lodge and start on your journey to Queen Elizabeth national park passing through the crater lakes region, along the way you will enjoy views of the mystical Rwenzori Mountain ranges. You will arrive in the park in time for lunch at your lodge, in the afternoon you will go for a game drive in the savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth national park. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5:  Game drive and Boat Safari in Queen Elizabeth national park

After breakfast, you will head to the park for a morning game drive, Queen Elizabeth national park is a home to highest biodiversity of any protected area in East Africa, during the morning game drive you watch predators as they look for their prey and before they go back into hiding, you will head to the Kasenyi mating grounds in search for lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, elephants, waterbucjs and Uganda kobs and enjoy beautiful back drop of the Rwenzori Mountains.

After lunch, you will head to the Kazinga Channel for a launch cruise, you will cruise towards Lake Edward while watching different animals such as elephants, cape buffaloes along the shores of the channel and hippos, crocodiles and many bird species. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: morning game drive and departure

After breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and with en-route game drive you will embark on a journey back to Kampala, along the way you will have lunch in Mbarara and when you arrive in Kampala you will be dropped off either at your hotel or at the airport for your departure flight back home.
